Contemporary showcase, ancient canvas: YAVA Gallery & Arts Hub presents Works on Paper & Print

Works on Paper & Print presents 14 Yarra Valley Artists exhibiting original artworks, using paper as the main component; featuring printmakers, photographers and painters. Limited edition prints of artists’ work will also be available for sale.

Artworks on paper are tactile, possessing texture, yet they also inhabit a subtle realm. The dual nature of paper as both sturdy and ubiquitous to daily life, but with qualities that make it float or tear, render it fascinating. It is at once both canvas and medium. Paper is also remarkably versatile, as demonstrated in the significant variety of pieces selected for YAVA’s upcoming exhibition, Works on Paper.

Fourteen member artists are presenting works in this exhibition, and their submissions encompass a great range: charcoal drawing, watercolour and pencil, photography, eco printing and polymer etching, screen printing and linocut, hand-coloured silver gelatin photographs. All attend to subject matter that is of the heart, and speaks to the beauty of life –– in wild places, in the inhabiting of home or the body.

YAVA Gallery & Arts Hub is thrilled to present this exhibition; it has been in the wings for a considerable time. The show will run from 5 May to 29 May, with an artist talk at the official opening night, Thursday 5 May, which requires a reservation (include link here). Limited edition prints of participating artists’ work will also be available for sale, as well as the works on display, throughout the exhibition.
