exploring representation and the self in portraiture

ABOUT PAUL:

Paul is a Warburton based photographer and artist, who works primarily in exploring representation and the self in portraiture, though has worked in many differing aspects of the medium.

He began his interest in photography at age 10, buying his first developing tank and film with his paper round money, using a twin lens reflex bought from a weekend market.

While professionally working in health, his love of photography has been woven throughout his life.

At 56 he has spent 40 years in the darkroom, and has used all photographic formats from 35mm to 8x10 and digital.

He has privately taught almost all technical aspects of analogue photography and for years has processed materials for commercial clients.

Heavily involved in community groups he was the vice president of the ‘Melbourne Silver Mine’ (MSM) an analog photography group that boasted some 400 members.

He has contributed works to many exhibitions including several at the International Photo Bienalle (BIFB)

Paul is currently completing a Masters Degree in Photography with a major exhibition, ‘Mirror’ opening in 9 July 2022 at the Warburton Arts Centre which explores the representation of disability in photography.
