ABOUT MARGARET:

Margaret’s work is inspired by colours, textures, light and shapes found in the world around her: in nature, living creatures, man-made structures, human forms, their environments.

She is disciplined- driven to observe, sketch, digest, rearrange and compose, using oil painting, acrylic painting, mixed-media and printmaking to communicate her passion and vision.

Margaret aims to express joy and meaning through heightened colour, dramatic contrast and scale.

Her practice is varied, each medium influencing the next, creating new outcomes.

Travelling has focussed attention on Margaret’s roots, with influences from her South African era plus Irish connections, and love of Australia’s environment. Historical artefacts and images have inspired much of her practice.

Margaret has won several awards, exhibited widely, both in solo and group exhibitions, locally and internationally.

Teaching to all levels has fulfilled Margaret, focussing on individual strengths, encounters and possibilities.

Margaret’s purpose-built studio overlooks 180 degrees of surrounding Yarra Valley beauty-her daily inspiration, her haven!

Margaret is a regular participant of the Yarra Valley Open Studios.
