strips back form and landscapes to their essence

ABOUT KATHLEEN:

Kathleen has a spatial eye for abstraction that is matched by her desire to create pieces of balance. Inspired by the natural world, her minimalist eye strips back both form and landscapes to their essence. Using colours true and sometimes dreamlike we see a wider world through her lens. Her use of textured mediums offers depth and dynamic form as they are applied in both rigid and free-flowing states depending on the energy in the creation of a piece and theme. The viewer is encouraged to find their own meaning in her work.

Working in Lilydale, with so much left to see and say as her journey as an artist continues, Kathleen’s artistic philosophy is: 'in order to create, I must be inspired by someone or something that calls to be on the canvas with no expectations on the outcomes. This allows for the pieces to show themselves to me organically - often stripped back to their true essence. One of my greatest pleasures in life is to hear what others see in art and what it means to them. This creates a relationship with the piece, person, and place that is truly unique and a privilege to witness.'

Kathleen is an emerging artist after taking a break from her creative roots for more than 15 years. Her art is now both reflective of her life experience to date and what inspires her present-day and future dreams.
