ABOUT KERRYL:

Kerryl’s work has its roots in Matisse, Picasso and Braque. She has tried to construct a visual language that honours an inventive visual tradition. To be able to portray the essence of a sitter without being too preoccupied with its realism has been the preoccupation of her figurative work for nearly forty years.

It is a precarious but fascinating process that bases itself on abstract shapes and colour symphony to construct the image.

Her forms are developed from a slow process of glazing and opaque colours to develop a relationship that signifies a moment or event without using a recognition that has been preceded.

Kerryl works from countless drawings that she executes on iphone.
